A combinatorial approach for studying LOCC transformations of multipartite states

چکیده
We present a general framework for studying multi-particle entanglement using graph-theoretic methods. We introduce a technique called bicolored merging for determining combinatorial conditions that must be satisfied for two multiparticle states to be comparable under LOCC. We present several results concerning the possibility and impossibility of various state transformations of multi-partite states represented by EPR graphs and entangled hypergraphs under LOCC. We show that there are exponentially many LOCC-incomparable pure multipartite states. We also demostrate a partial ordering of multi-partite states. All the above results have been derived using only the monotonicity postulate for entanglement measures. Further, we discuss a new graph theoretic metric on a class of multi-partite states and its implications.

Multipartite entanglement configurations: Combinatorial offshoots into (hyper)graph theory and their ramifications
Computations in a distributed environment comprising a network of spatially separated nodes may require the exchange of classical and quantum information. The amount of classical communication may be reduced in such computations by using multipartite entanglement. Following the combinatorial approach developed in [25, 27], we study entanglement configurations over a set of nodes, where each ent...
متن کاملMaximally entangled set of multipartite quantum states.
Entanglement is a resource in quantum information theory when state manipulation is restricted to local operations assisted by classical communication (LOCC). It is therefore of paramount importance to decide which LOCC transformations are possible and, particularly, which states are maximally useful under this restriction. While the bipartite maximally entangled state is well known (it is the ...
متن کاملNecessary and sufficient conditions for local manipulation of multipartite pure quantum states
Suppose that several parties jointly possess a pure multipartite state, |ψ〉. Using local operations on their respective systems and classical communication (i.e. LOCC), it may be possible for the parties to transform deterministically |ψ〉 into another joint state |φ〉. In the bipartite case, the Nielsen majorization theorem gives the necessary and sufficient conditions for this process of entang...
متن کاملThree qubits can be entangled in two inequivalent ways
Invertible local transformations of a multipartite system are used to define equivalence classes in the set of entangled states. This classification concerns the entanglement properties of a single copy of the state. Accordingly, we say that two states have the same kind of entanglement if both of them can be obtained from the other by means of local operations and classical communication ~LOCC...
متن کاملComparability of multipartite entanglement
Due to its numerous important applications[1–5] in the area of quantum information and computation, entanglement has been extensively studied in the past decade. The concept of considering entanglement as a new type of useful resource has been widely accepted. Efforts have been made to quantitatively and qualitatively measure this kind of resource in both bipartite and multipartite cases[6–8]. ...
